I for one also think so.  Mr Albers does not indicate the topic of his "network" or any other information to convince anyone here to join his network.

Subject: Re: [chirp_users] 1. TYT TH-UV3R Cable (David M. Carney)

Hi,

I bought this one:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-in-1-Programming-cable-for-Kenwood-radio-TK-2317-TM-281A-KPG-46-KPG-22-/261183930470?ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:US:3160

I'm sure a creative search in your favorite search engine will show alternates as well.

A word of caution: this particular cable does not work with the UV-82. Even after trimming some of the plastic it does not make the right contact. Maybe more trimming would make it work but I didn't try that. My fake Prolific cable does work with the UV-82. Go figure.

Sander W1SOP, where did you find this cable? Do you have a part number?

I'm not 100% sure but I think Chirp will only work with a COM port.
And also there probably is some initial handshake the radio does with
Chirp to tell it to start sending data. I'm by far no expert at this so you might
want to read some other replies from the guys who actually do the Chirp program
modifications for new radios and add more features, bug fixes etc... They read
the list.

Is it possible to use Chirp to load information to the micro-SD memory card of an Icom ID-31 or ID-51 or will chirp only work with a serial cable?
