Hello,
I finally , with help from several others found that the right cable/driver makes chirp work great.  after getting that all straightened out, I plugged the cable into the radio, and computer, then I downloaded the program put into the radio by the manufacturer.  Next, i edited that same program with the frequencies I wanted, and uploaded it into the radio.  It really was that easy.  Then I plugged the cable into the radio I bought for my wife, and it cloned the radio.  Now all I have to say to her is "go to channel XX" and we can chat as needed.  Pretty good huh?  Paul

Hi Paul,

CHIRP always worked great. Until you installed the right driver to make the cable work great, you just couldn't tell. ;)

Glad to hear you got it sorted out.
