Have you tried the Linux CD? I think holding down Apple-C during boot will allow you to boot off of a CD.KB = Key BoardSince you're running a dual boot system, I feel I can assume you have a better idea of what's going on then some users.

Where are you plugging the USB into? If it's your KB, there may not be enough power to read/write properly.
