Have you tried reading the new radio as if it were an already supported model? Choose models similar the features of the new radio:

- single, dual or triple power level?

- single, dual, or triple band?

- similar appearance/design?

It may work, depending on how unique/custom the new radio is - it may identify as a currently supported model in programming mode, and if that's the case, you may be in luck.
