Heres my little experience with the Baofeng group and my HP laptop or desktop both with Win 7 . . . . .. I bring up the program, plug in the Cable to the correct port and then plug in the Radio to the cable, turn on the radio, turn the radio volume up all the way. Set the radio down and take a walk. Check the post box, or kill time some how usually about 7 to 10 minutes. What ever! Then I come back and it will read, or program that radio all day long. But if I unplug the radio we have to start all over again. It's a little time consuming but it works for my situation. This is the radios I program that way Baofeng UV-82, 82HP, 82C, 82X. UV-5R. Anyway I can program most anything else I & my friends have, and they come up pretty quickly with out having to wait. The other radios I've programmed are Yeasu 270R. Any Tone AT-868D. TYT MD-9600, TYT MD-380. Kenwood TK-860, TK 860H, & Kenwood TK-840, to name a few of them and other than the Few Baofengs I listed earlier I don't have to give that initial beginning wait time. Weird? Don't know if this helps anyone but if nothing else it shows things aren't always straight up easy. Sometimes we have to finess things a little or alot. And sometimes it's by hard work or persistence and sometimes it by accident like going to grab a soda like I did. Which goes to show even slow people can get lucky or have a helpfull accident. 73's Elmer's, & all.

What radio do you have? Is it supported? What Operating System are you using? What USB port have you selected?

I bought $20.00 program cable from Amazon. Had to download driver CDM v2.12.28 WHQL Certified. Downloaded CHIRP UV82S35. When I click on "Read data from radio" a small window opens that says "Read data from radio" with three tabs, "Read", "Cancel" and "Help". When I click on Read I get another small window that says "Operation Prompt" with the message "! Fail connect with transceiver". When I click on Help nothing happens. Cable is firmly plugged into radio to the second click. Tried dampening the pins for a better connection as per the Baofeng instructions. I've also tried the radio on both channel mode and frequency mode. Checked Miklor.com to no avail. I accidently keyed the PPT button and heard a buzz from my computer speakers so I believe I have a connection with the cable. Any advice???????
