There is no option to turn them off or on in the previous versions. I have not tried today's release yet. Does the latest release have that option too?

No, this change was just to force the flag to "on" if there is a name set, and force it off if not. Adding the option to be settable by the user is a little more involved as it affects every radio chirp supports.
