I know that the generic driver install package works from OSX Lion on up to the latest 32 or 64 bit flavor. Get it from here:

And read the top of the page that tells you how to install packages not signed by Apple.
If your cable is good this driver will work. It will also remove any other PL2303 driver. Check it out.

I tried to check CHIRP log in terminal but couldn’t get it to work.
Maybe my cable is no good? Its a Maxton RPC-Y7R-U so is based on a Prolific chip from what I can figure out.

Try the CHIRP Live CD. If that doesn't work, then the problem is most likely the programming cable or its connection to the radio. If it does work, then you know the cable is good and it must be something to do with the computer (most likely the driver).
