I download from my radio and save a copy. Next I download again and select all then delete. At this point I copy the files I want and paste it to the clean sheet. Once I have what I need on it, I upload it to my radio. I save an extra copy incase I mess up and need to put it back to the original program. It’s a safety precaution which I have needed in the past.

1) You download from radio. 2) Edit the resulting list. It's a spreadsheet so you can import to it from a file or copy from another sheet that you loaded from a file. 3) You upload back to the radio 4) You save the sheet to disk for future use.

and you have not answered the question
this OPs question was about S mode - and the answer to that depends on whether Chirp and signed and available in the Smode libraries or whether the device needs to be taken to 'normal' windows to install chirp and any drivers for the programming leads etc

I?m trying to help my boyfriend?s Dad pick out a laptop that he can install CHIRP on and needed to know whether the Microsoft Surface Laptops running Windows 10 and Windows 11 in S Mode were compatible. I read through everything I could. I?m tech savvy but know nothing about Ham Radios. I don?t want him to purchase a computer that he can?t download and run CHIRP on. Thank you!
