Hello Ladies and Gentlemen:

Our local dollar store had a very robust 3.5 mm 4 contact extension about 4 ft long

( $2.00 only ).

Just cut in half and connect to CP2102 USB to Serial converter and it works like a charm.

Beware of the thinner cables, cause the individual wires inside are too thin and flimsy

Needs a 3.5mm 4 contact jack plug in the mic/ear socket.
Use the outermost ring and sleeve.
