I think the number one issue has always been that most tablets do not
have serial or USB ports available for plugging in a radio. Although,
some have USB-OTG. Of those that have USB-OTG, very few (none, that
I've encountered) have a version of the Linux kernel that includes the
standard USB to serial cable drivers. (These are standard on desktop
version of Linux like Ubuntu.)

Once you solve the hardware issues, the next issue is of course
developer interest.

I don't know of anyone working on an Android version, but I suppose
replies here will tell.
