I cannot find FIRMWARE for N5R-219 BFB-297.
He has two units, the other one is N5R-213 BFB-297 - and I can find this image.

Once the radio is working again, make sure that your friend upgrades to the latest CHIRP daily build so that he won't be able to upload a *.img file from a radio with BFB firmware into a radio with N5R firmware.
