Hey Jim thank you. It's amazing what knowledge does for a person. As you may have guessed I don't have any regarding this sort of thing, I'm just trying to help a Mate out. So I have now cloned the 5RTP and if I understand what you said I have to manually edit it and then upload back to the radio.
No. I didn't say that. You have to upload an image that came from your UV-5R TP. It does not have to be manually edited. CHIRP will allow you to import channels from many sources.
I can't just upload the 5R+ image?
Correct. You can only upload an image that came from your radio or a radio with the exact same firmware version.
As already mentioned, you can... - copy and paste from a UV-5R+ tab to the UV-5R TP tab - import from a .CSV file.
But a more robust way of doing it would be to import the .IMG file from UV-5R+ into your UV-5R TP tab.
Also, would I be correct in saying that Chirp only accesses the UHF band on the radio?
You are incorrect. CHIRP will allow you to program the VHF and UHF bands.
I would love to get in and learn about this but since my stroke the memory is not that good. Thanks again Mate, it is greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Mick.
