I D/L and used the latest CHIRP to program my Icom IC-2200 as well as a 

china UV_3V mini HT, both programmed successfully using the driver that 

came with the USB cable for the IC-2200. In other words, same cable and

driver worked ok for both radios.. 

Next I purchased a cable for my FT-2800 Yaesu but I get a read header error.

This cable also came with a driver but an inspection indicates this driver is identical

to the prolithic driver on the IC-2200 driver disk. Why dosent it work?

Any advice appreciated...
