I've never heard of that radio. I own 5 Chinese radios. That radio is likely a Baofeng UV5R copy or clone unless someone can prove otherwise. Or counterfeit. The owner might try to download from the radio using the Baofeng UV5R profile and see what happens. But I wouldn't write anything to the radio until it's know what exactly it is or the owner could end up bricked. And what about the factory software if any that came with the radio?
Just my thought, Milt.

I have the TYT TH-UV5R. When I use Chirp software to program the radio the
radio connects to the computer and when I try to upload from the radio to the computer the light on the radio flashes and appears to upload the data to the program. Can someone kindly point me in the right direction in order to use Chirp.

Paul,
You "download" to transfer data from the radio to the computer. You "upload" to transfer data from the computer to the radio.
You can not use File -> New to start the programming for your radio. CHIRP won't know what radio it is for and therefore has no idea what features are available. You must download from the radio first to get a template that is compatible with your radio.
But in your case, you can't because it doesn't look the the TYT TH-UV5R is a supported radio. I may not be looking in the right place, but I can't find evidence that there is a TYT TH-UV5R.
