So I id install the 3.2.0 driver on my Windows machine at work. After that I was able to access the radio with CHIRP. Thanks for that!
When I got home I tried some steps to remove/disable the existing USB driver on my MAC that I found in a thread on a forum I read too. After installing the driver for "counterfeit" Prolific cables I still got the "radio did not ack" error. I then changed the COMP (29) menu setting to ON. That seemed to do the trick! I can now access the HT with CHIRP on my preferred mac machine.
Now I need to RTFM to figure out how to use a dual band radio. Never had one before.
thanks for your help.

Hi Mason, Did you try 3.2.0 driver model? I had to downgrade to it to get my Kenwood TM-281 programmed. I believe it's because of the USB Prolific chip clone from China. Hope it helps... Terry KG5EHR
