Yeap, i tried with Prolific and FDI and no luck with CHIRP....I have a RT USB cable and was lent the programming CD by a friend and it all worked ok...but only with the RT cable & software.I would still rather use CHIRP as all my other radios are programmed with it and also to show my appreciation to all the great CHIRP guy's & girls out there :-)On Mon, Apr 24, 2017 at 12:00 PM, <chirp_users-request@intrepid.danplanet.com > wrote:

Greetings Don,
You mention that you are able to program your FT270 by selecting 160 in
CHIRP; what cable are you using? I have an RTSystems USB cable but have no
success using CHIRP to connect by selecting the FT 160.
The message I get is either 'Radio did not respond' or 'Unable to load
header'
Any suggestions?

rtsystems usb cables I believe won't work with chirp. RT codes there cables
to only work with their software. need to get a prolific or ftdi chip cable.
