So what you are saying is the cable from Amazon is not a a FTDI cable?

You already said you have an FTDI cable. That is what you want. But
you said you installed the Future Technologies Device Inc driver. As
pointed out in the link that Tom provided, you should remove FTDI
written FTDI driver and use native Apple FTDI driver that is built
into Mac OS X.
