Following these instructions from CHIRP Radio tab: Baofeng UV-5R Instructions
- Turn radio off.
- Connect cable to mic/spkr connector.
- Make sure connector is firmly connected.
- Turn radio on.
- Ensure that the radio is tuned to channel with no activity.
- Click OK to download image from device.
Have tried the instructions in both Frequency Mode and Channel Mode
