Thanks Jim. W4EAB is a vanity that I acquired. On the FCC website it shows a 2009 expiration and I picked it up for my initials. Sorry for the wrong terminology. Reverted to my old CG days when we used phone and voice interchangeably on our freq guards. I'm wondering if I have a bad cable perhaps. I'm going to borrow one from a friend of mine that downloaded his Chirp setup onto my radio from his win 7 computer with another cable. If that doesn't work I'll just return the radio and start all over with a cable that will accept the latest windows (7) driver updates. Tks for the advice.
