Baji - you and the rest of the community have been very kind, thank you!  I am consumed with yard work this weekend but will get time Sunday and the of the week going through all the resources everyone has sent; I am certain it is all in there.  After I posted my intiial request, I thought, "how mundane! there must be 50 posts a day like this!" But you have all been generous and supportive.  I will remember this when I become an active member and can contribute, too!

 Craig,

For the longest time, the only way I knew how to program my UV-82, was using CHIRP. The first video below lifted my blinders:

I didn't have to much to start using CHIRP, other than roll back to a previous version of the driver, as advised on MILKOR, but the video below may help you.

Hope that helps you get going.

Hello - I am new to ham radio and studying for my license as a casual user / prepper. I have 2 new 82Ls and have spent a great deal of time trying to find a video on YouTube that can get me up and running in the 28205  / Charlotte area. So far, I have been in Miklor and CHIRP but can't figure out how to find, program and enjoy my radio. I have loaded the correct cable drivers, downloaded my factory image and have found various lists of pubic safety and amateur frequencies; even donated to CHRIP.  I want to listen, scan and use as two-way while camping.  Is there a good reference, video or  otherwise that can help get me up and running?
Regards, Craig
