I have a couple of those "multi-port" dongles that plug into the port where the charge cable goes on the Samsung tablets, I have a couple of 10.1 notes, the one that came out in 2012 or there about, then they did only ONE upgrade to it. Still a great slab, I am thinking about trying to put Linux on it as that would make a great Chirp slab, and should allow me to keep MS at bay. I know that Chirp at least the GUI part of it will not run under Android, but if I can put Linux on the device that should take care of it. I will find my handy dandy adapter, though the BT serial port is attractive. I see a lot of them on EBay... Some pretty cheap... (probably more than one way too)

And prices for these Bluetooth serial adapter start in the $50 range. But you can get a whole set of various USB size and gender adapters for about $10.

Anyway, if the objective is to have a portable radio programming station for as cheap and "easy" as possible, then personally I would try Linux on an Android tablet with a USB connector adapter, based on what I already have laying around. But that's just me.

Again, not sure how well this will work with the Android USB port. And in any case you would likely need a USB Micro to Type A female adapter for your programming cable.
