I written to both an FT-60 and FT-8900 using CHIRP daily-20140121 from stored image files for both without reading from the radio first.
And I'm using a modified cable with PL2303 chip. The cable has three different ends, 3.5mm 3 conductor with 4 conductor adapter, 8P8C modular, and 6 pin mini DIN wired all together and works perfectly.
Prior I had only serial DB9 cables for the Yaesu radios.

I am able to upload to my FT-60 (Windows & RT cable) if I first download and then immediately upload my image. If I attempt to only upload, I get the same error message.

That site just pulls data out of the info coordinators have.? Woefully inaccurate. Coordinators in many areas, mine included, include repeaters that have been off the air for many years.? Repeaterbook is definitely more accurate.? Users can update info.? Also, a Chirp file can be created from either Repeaterbook, or from Chirp itself.

Here's an option you may want to consider.
There is a link to Repeater Database for US Hams at the bottom of the Miklor home page. ? Http://www.miklor.com

You enter the City/State, a desired radius, and the desired band(s).
It will list the repeaters in order by distance from the selected hub.

Hope this helps.
