I now want to program a Yaesu FT-7900. I bought the USB cable from Kawa but am having a problem. If I plug in the cable into the data port the radio goes into tx until I plug in the USB then it goes to rx. But when I try to download the radio's content I get and error message that says "Failed to read header (0)" What am I doing wrong?
Hmm, I'm confused. When you plug in the cable the radio does something? Yaesu radios shouldn't do anything unless you push a button on the radio. If something is happening just because you plug in the cable, I'd suspect a problem with the cable or radio or both.
However, you should probably: 1. Plug the USB connector into the computer 2. Plug the cable into the radio 3. Power the radio on into set/clone mode 4. Then follow the Yaesu instructions in the User Guide on the chirp website.
