This includes changes made directly to the tree since yesterday and may include additional features, bug fixes, etc. Unless you have a reason not to, we recommend using the latest build of CHIRP-next at all times. Once again the old Icom IC-W32E

Hello, please help. I have an Icom IC-W32E radio and the python file icw32.py works great. https://chirpmyradio.com/issues/280 But it does not support 12.5kHz tuning step. Would it be possible to add support for tuning step 12.5 kHz to the PY file?? Thank you Libor

Editing entire column

Will the ic-208h for CHIRP work for the ic-207h? cannot ford programmer for the ic-207h any more. I should have gotten it when I got the radio, live and learn. Thank You in advance Tom WD0GVH

UV-17 Pro, etc.

I recently bought a Baofeng UV-17 Pro and it appears to be more or less completely functional. However, I can not seem to pursuade it to be programmed from my computer. I am running the Linux version of Chirp, latest, and using an FTDI programming cable. It has two lights on the USB end of the cable, and plugs in to the headphone and mike jacks on the radio. When I get everything plugged in properly, a green light shows up on the cable. I start Chirp, tell it I want to download from the radio and give it the correct port. ( The radio is on. ) I click the "Start" button, and the screen on the radio lights up, and then shows a picture of a "computer" along with the word "Program." However, shortly afterwards, that display goes away, and Chirp complains that it didn't get as much data as it expected. Any suggestions? Do I have the wrong cable, something else? Thanks, Brian

This is what I have done. I bought a few sets of 2.5 and 3.5 mm TRS extensions, so now I can connect to anything. I found that the mainstream radios had good, repeatable quality control, but the off brands, such as BTECH and BaoFeng had a lot of manufacturing slop. Seems funny, given that the idea of "mass production" is so old. Errors with CHIRP

I'm using chirp-20240926-py3-none-any.whl on an Ubunto 24.04.1 laptop. Starting and stopping CHIRP I get: joliver@blinky:~$ chirp 09:28:09 AM: Debug: Unrecognized accel key 'backspace', accel string ignored. (chirp:40948): Gdk-CRITICAL **: 09:28:51.114: gdk_wayland_window_handle_configure_popup: assertion 'impl->transient_for' failed joliver@blinky:~$ It seems to work just fine (except for my UV-5R8W frequently likes to complain about "can't contact radio" and I have to close CHIRP and restart and try again). Just thought these might be something that needed attention. Thanks for a great piece of software!

What's the possibility of supporting an Icom IC-A16. Are aviation radios inherently different from HAM radios? Thanks. Ed

UV-5R vs. UV-5R8W

CHIRP regards both radios as Baofeng UV5Rs, but the download from one can't be uploaded to the other. Is it possible to have them detected / treated differently? I'm happy to provide any uploads that might help.
