[chirp_users] IC-208H programming question.

I just installed an IC-208H radio in my vehicle. I would like to use Chirp to program it by computer rather than by hand. It would be most helpful if someone has a prior download from an IC-208H that I could study. Even though I would be making changes to frequencies, etc., the prior download would show how Chirp displays the information from an IC-208H. I learned many years ago that many tasks become much easier the second or third time. It also is a big help to draw upon the experience of another person. I shall look forward to a reply. Thomas

[chirp_users] Dstar ID-RP4000V Repeater

I have an ICOM , ID-RP4000V Dstar repeater. According to the Wiki page both the VHF and UHF repeater is supported. When I check the daily build list it is not shown as supported and I could not locate a *.py file for the repeater. I have been through the archives and found reference that support for the ID-RP400V was added and it was working , but not much other info. When I run Chirp to try detect the repeater/radio I get an error message " An error has occurred Unable to get radio model". I have tried both the most up to date windows version and a USB thumb drive with the Live CD loaded. Both versions operate fine , but with the error message. Any suggestions???? Bob K7MHJ

[chirp_users] Trying to use chirp via ser2net and socat

Hi, I wonder if anybody has tried this and can offer advice: I have chirp running on a laptop in my apt, but an FT8900 is in a boiler room one the roof. The remote control head for the radio is down in the apartment. I can connect to the FT8900 by running a ser2net service up there and socat down here. With this setup and permissions all set OK using /dev/pts/5, I can see the FT8900 send a character when I put it into clone mode. But chirp will not recognise anything and gives me "Failed to communicate with radio: Failed to read header (0)" I am using SuSE linux here and CentOS upstairs. I have tried setting the serial port up there to 1200, 4800, 9600 and 19200. I assume that chirp uses autobauding to communicate with the radio but that is obviously not available over a tcp connection. Looking for when the pofung bf-f8hp Is to work with the chirp? I am not able to get it working with the windows 8 via chirp. From what I understand its the exact same radio as the UV 5 R just more power?

I'm trying to program a BF UV-82C for a friend. I note that compatibility for this radio is available in daily builds. I'm using Chirp daily - 20141025 which I think is the latest, but the UV-82C does not seem to appear in the list of compatible radios. Using UV-82 I can program the frequencies but not the special settings. I bet I'm missing something obvious but so far it's escaping me so I come to the brain trust for guidance. Greetings, I just wanted to report that I have had great success with the latest daily build and my Wouxun KG-UV8D. I was able import and export configuration to my radio with no issues. I downloaded, as a test, the repeaterbook data for my state, and was able to successfully edit the data and upload it to the radio with no errors. Able to edit power levels, tones, names, etc, with no errors popping up. Thanks for the great work. Looking foward to being able to edit the radio settings...... hopefully in the next build.... :) -- Mark D. Fenley
