Hi, I just downloaded the most recent CHIRP-next MacOS version chirp-next-20230311.app.zip on MacOS Ventura 13.2.1 on M1 processor. I was able to download from my radio and upload. I did find 2 possible issues that I did not find a bug report for. 1 - when I selected the download from radio, I selected the wrong port. After it could not connect, all options on all menu items were greyed out, I could not even quit Chirp. I had to kill it. Is this expected behavior? 2 - I had selected query source -> RepeaterBook. Selected state of Colorado, filter of a county, and Limit bands to 2 meter and 70 centimeter and ran ok. It came up with a list of repeaters. I then selected RepeaterBook again, selected another county, limit bands was not selected but when I clicked on it, it showed what I had selected before. Then had to click OK each time. Is this expected behavior? Would have been nice to already have it selected. Onrepeaterbook.com website you can filter by state and highway. Is this something you might be able to do in the future with chirp-next? Could be useful traveling cross country. I can write a bug report if needed. I have a new baofeng that was just given to me. The radio is UV-82L and was purchased by my ARC 2 or 3 years ago and programmed using chirp at that time. I wanted to update the programming but have not been able to do so with either chirp-next or the legacy chirp that is on the download site. The individual that originally programmed it does not remember which type of radio he used for the original programming. So far I have tried every supported baofeng model and the radioddity models as well but none are able to download the existing programming so it could be modified and updated. Does anyone have a clue if chirp is even able to communicate with this radio today? and if so then what brand/model should be used to do so? The club still has several of these that are used as door prizes and for club use. Jeff KI7GJG

I run Fedpra Linux version 37 which has python 3.11 I have previously used CHIRP and am upgrading to the newer python3 version but am encountering several issues. Each time I try to launch the new version I get an error, and have been working through them one at a time (which mostly requires installing a python package not previously installed). I have, however, hit one that I cannot find the proper fix for. ---- File "/home/USERNAME/.local/lib/python3.11/site-packages/attrdict/mapping.py", line 4, in <module> from collections import Mapping ImportError: cannot import name 'Mapping' from 'collections' (/usr/lib64/python3.11/collections/__init__.py) [end of output] ---- Looking at the collections module installed for the system it does not seem to have the Mapping module as the error states and I cannot figure out how to fix that issue. Does someone with python experience have any suggestions? Jeff KI7GJG
