List members, I am curious if Chirp supports the programming of the Beofeng DM-5R radio? Moreover, I am also having trouble doing the programming with the DM-5R software and cable as well. I am new to Chirp. My radio, a Jetstream JT-270MH, has the capability of specifying both a tone encode (for keying a repeater) and a tone decode (for validating that transmissions received) are from the correct repeater. I had manually entered these into the radio, and it was working correctly. Then I introduced Chirp into the picture. Chirp has columns for both Tone and ToneSql. I have been unable to get the correct tone to show in both columns. Generally, I see a value in the Tone column combined with 'Tone' in the Tone Mode column. Alternatively, I see a value in the ToneSql column and 'TSQL' in the Tone Mode column. Is this the correct display, and if so which one tells me that Chirp is programming the tone for transmissions in both directions ? Note that I can open the memory line in a Properties window, set both Tone and ToneSql to the same value, but they do not stick when clicking OK. Also note that I have opened bug # 7475 concerning the precise radio profile used to clone this data, and issues encountered, so there could be a connection, but seems unlikely to me.

"At the moment"... I have some sympathy with Prolific, and FTDI who also have had their chip's faked. I personally have seen one chip marked up as FTDI, but appeared to Windows as a Prolific chip! The seller did the right thing, at their expense. I Feel sorry for them too. It is I suspect, only a matter of time, before one Linux distro or other also detects and blocks the use of such "fake" chips. After that, all the others will probably do so too. I also have sympathy for people who bought a "product" unknowingly with a fake chip in it. "The Product" manufacturer should make things good, but that rarely if ever happens. Too many people loose out to the counterfeiters in these cases. 73. Dave G8KBV. First I'd like to say, what an awesome, helpful group, Does anyone have any experience with the BAOFENG UV-5R8W? I Just got one from ABBREE through Amazon. Has anyone had success with any type of software for programing? This is supposedly a three power model. I have tried a few models on CHIRP, the included BAOFENG software and attempted a download from the ABBREE website, all with what I would call negative results. It was a package deal with an included Baofeng cable (Prolific USP) that that Windows 10 said was working. Any help would be appreciated, especially knowing if there is a model I can select on CHIRP that has worked for others. Best Regards, Troy Hunter (Newly licensed)

Has anything happened with the ID-5100A? Sure would be nice to be able to use chirp with it. My offer is still open to lend the radio to someone if they need a radio to work with, or I can guinea pig, for you but sure would be nice to be able to at least pull the memory chip and modify it under Chirp. I use it for all of my Chinese radios, and on my old IC-92AD, there are some issues with the last radio now, it used to work great but what I need right now works just fine. -- Chirp + Editcp + MD380Tools on Linux Celestial!!! [chirp_users] open image file fails

Hi Guys, I wanted to reprogram my Baofeg BF888, so I installed the chirp daily (again, because I haven't used it since a while) to my Ubuntu 16.04 machine. Firstly I was able to open my previously saved .img files, edit them and load the new config to the radio. But after a while chirp failed to load the .img files properly, it is loading only the first 1 banks, and nothing more. This happens both the old and the new .img files. I tried to add more lines, but I got an error message, that there is no more space available. Am I doing something wrong? Could you please give me a hint how to get over this? Regards, Miklos

I am using CHIRP to program an FT-857D, In the header I have Memory range set fron 1 to 200. I have programed 40 channels no problem for a total of 40 channels, now i want to add more channels but i cannot. what am i doing wrong?

My friend gave me a spreadsheet of frequencies programmed into his radio, which included the following [cid:375c6d51-b334-42c5-b8ed-101eba3ef251] [cid:a9a868ba-c931-4be8-b64c-55106e542ddd] I can hear him through my radio, but I cannot send to him so that he can hear me. Attached is a screenshot of what I attempted in CHIRP. I have a feeling the problem I am experiencing is due to the Channel Spacing column from his spreadsheet, which I'm not sure how to deal with in CHIRP I have a BAOFENG A-58 and am using CHIRP for Mac. Thanks in advance for any help! Jonas
