Please forgive me...I know this is way off topic, but thought some of you hams out there might be a little bit interested in this. I was messing around this afternoon and calculated the percentage of per capita hams are each state in the USA and found a couple of interesting international numbers, as well. Population estimates come from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_and_territories_by_popula… and are for 1 July 2017. Country per capita hams are: 1. Japan 2. Slovenia 3. Taiwan 4. South Korea 5. Thailand Sheer numbers, most hams in the world: 1. United States 2. Japan 3. Thailand 4. Germany 5. Canada Data taken from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amateur_radio_operator. Using some population sites for the US and the ARRL site to get the total number of hams in the US (and using Jimmy to figure out the blasted math in Excel!), I came up with a %-age of hams per state in the US, which I'm attaching. It's interesting to see the highest per capita hams in which states. Most of the states are .37% and down. Utah is the highest with .56%. Next highest is Idaho with .50%, Alaska with .48%, Oregon, .47%, Washington, .45%, New Hampshire, .41%, and the rest under .37%. The lowest are DC, Puerto Rico, Louisiana, New York, New Jersey, Illinois. Shon R. I have 3 UV-5R's All three of them need their own *.img file because they have different firmwares. They are all programmed with same channels and settings and all work fairly well for what I need. However, believe it or not, one of them WILL NOT work with my J-Pole antenna. When I say 'will not work' I mean I can't hit any of the repeaters I normally use. It works perfectly, in fact really well with supplied antenna and with my dual band home made ground plane. With my MFJ power meter it also shows a full watt more output power than the other 2? Is there anything in my programming the phone that could cause this? Thanks, Dennis M. [chirp_users] DCS problem on BTECH UVX2-50

Hello all, This is not stricly Chirp related but I need you help on programming my radios with selective DCS. I use the radios in a car racing team and I need to be abe to talk to this car or that car but also to all the cars at the same time. I have made a setup which runs fine to speak to each car individualy but I can't talk to all of them at the same time, here's what I did. Same frequency for all channels DCS RX specific to each car (X for car 1, Y for car 2, etc.....) No DCS TX on the cars radios so that when the driver speaks everyone car hear it (except the other cars of course) I made several channels on the pit radios with a matching DCS TX for car 1, car 2 and no DCS at all to be able to talk to the other pits radios) I'd like to make a new DCS RX on all cars (200) so that I could talk to ALL cars at the same time but when I program it on the cars radios it does not work, the car does not receive it. I made a dual watch so that the car receiving radio should switch from the "this car only" channel to the "all cars channel" but somehow it does not receive. What did I do wrong ? [chirp_users] Unable to create Chirp "account" (to get technical help)

Hi. What's up with the "Register" page on the main Chirp site? https://chirp.danplanet.com/account/register I've just tried three times to register, and each time it bombs with unknown user or password when I'm invited to login, after it tell's me I successfuly created an account. There is no mention of needing to wait for any acceptance.. The password reset link (when invoked) comes to me, and shows my as requested login "username" just fine. The new password is accepted OK with no errors, but the resulting new login fails. The requirements for the "password" are listed as:- / Must be at least 4 characters long. /(Is that all?)/ / I tend to use much more than that (12 in this case) so is that the problem? Upper/Lower case letters and numbers. I'm doing this using FireFox from the UK, it's not a GDPR blockage for non US users it is? What else might be wrong? Comments? 73. Dave B. PS: Where are the rig "driver" files stored, on a Linux system? I can find the chirpw file OK, but have no idea where the rest are. (I want to look at the code for a problematic radio I have.) ><

I have downloaded and installed several versions of Chirp and now my laptop is totally confused. I have an older version that still works fine, but I'd like to get all of the files that relate to chirp, exclusive of the python files required, so I can load the latest version. Any advice. Dick
