[chirp_users] Strange behavior of CHIRP under OS X latest version

I hadn’t used CHIRP for a while but always kept updating regularly. Last night, I wanted to update my Baofeng UV-82, and found an odd issue with the track pad or a wireless mouse. It seems that there is an X/Y offset between the mouse pointer and the CHIRP action. When I want to select a new radio, the buttons are partially hidden, so I have first to resize the window to see all the buttons. Then the buttons get the focus only if my mouse pointer is almost outside the button. It is very frustrating. Has anyone noticed the same behavior, or is it just me? I am using CHIRP form 02/04/2018 on a MacBook pro with Retina Display and OS X 10.3.3. Just curious, Jean-Paul N1JPL

[chirp_users] Application Crashes in Mac

After some help from some folks on this users group I was able to get my Mac to recognized the the serial cable. However the problem I am having now is the application crashes after the upload from the radio is complete. I uploaded the latest version of Chirp(20170627) but that did not solved the problem. The Mac is running macOS Sierra version 10.12.5. Thanks for the help. John Laiosa N1BSO

Jim, I compiled the notes from this thread and cross referenced twixt Baofeng-BTECH and CHIRP, so that I keep the relevance. In my testing, I discovered a neat feature: In the 5X3, when using SYNC, and with the NAME in band A and freq in Band B, I normally scroll using Band A. If I swap to Band B, with freq displayed, and hit *, the display toggles twixt the RX and TX freqs, leaving the NAME displayed. 73 de ~Rich~ NE1EE ARES AEC Short email? No html? I know nothing about RT Systems software and hardware. I do know I have converted all my cables to FTDI compliant using the module and instructions in this link. Only thing you need to do is select the proper comm port. Jim, Thanks for the clear notes. I am save such notes for each radio in a PIM, so that I always have them with me. I explored some Miklor web pages as I read your emails. Comment: I saved the link to Review BTECH 5X3 - Miklor but then renamed it to Miklor BTECH 5X3 Review because I am more likely to look for it in that order...Miklor...BTECH 5X3...Review I suggest (without knowing how or why pages are named in html) that the pages be renamed. Good morning, Question: Has anyone had luck with changing the VID and PID on RT Systems cables? I saw from the CHIRP documentation that it can be done with the FTDI utility, but I'm not sure which utility to use (the FTDI site has many available). Also, is it worth the trouble to do so, or is it better to just get different cables? Background: I have three of these RT Systems cables that I've been using for a few years now, but I've been switching my computers to run Linux and now want to use CHIRP as my programming software. In Frequency Mode + or - is displayed based on Menu 25 (Shift) So all is OK. But when I switched to VFO from channel mode, I thought that I'd find a way to see what the channel is programmed with (Kenwood has a feature to copy memory to VFO.) [chirp_users] Error after updating to new firmware of Yaesu FT1D and mcOS 10.13.3

Hello. I just updated my Yaesu FT1D to Main 3.01 and DSP 4.15 (both from 09/08/2017). I'm running a 2017 iMac (High Sierra 10.13.3). The firmware & DSP updates went fine on my Windows laptop. Now, I have normally used my iMac (previous was a early 2009 iMac running various OS X versions) and the daily builds of Chirp to program my FT1D (I use the SCU-19 cable that came with my radio). Never had an issue. After doing the two updates and running the latest version of Chirp (currently 20180210) I get the following error when I try to upload my memories back to the radio: "*failed to communications with the radio: radio did not ack block 1*". I have no problem downloading from the radio (although it's a blank list since I reset the radio). I've installed the newest FTDI drivers and and the Python files and still nothing (again, I use the SCU-19 cable that came with my radio - not sure what drivers I really need). Even tried each USB port on my iMac. I'll attach the debug log if that's any help. I'm not a programmer, but I can look through logs and code (do that at work), but I don't see anything that says "HEY! THIS IS THE ISSUE RIGHT HERE!". Maybe someone here will know what to look for? The last time I edited my programming file was in December. I do not remember if I had used Chirp since moving to High Sierra, but I was keeping mostly up-to-date with the daily releases for the Mac. I did go back in through the archives and see someone had issues with 10.13.1, but when he updated to 10.31.2 it was fixed. Well, I'm on 10.13.3. Hrmmm... Did anyone else have this or similar issue?
