All, I have been off the list for a while. I just purchased an Icom ID-5100 but don't see support in the current release or daily build. Is support for the 5100 pending? Thanks Tim K4RA

Then I tried with the py I used on linux, and it still did not work. Then I downloaded the same snapshot I used under linux (chirp-daily-20150202) and it still did not work. I have been using it on the linux version ... I do not get it. So to sum it up: The change which fixed it when I tried with chirp-daily-20150202 linux, did not work on windows. I still get the error message. ("new" UV-B5) Did anybody else try? CU, Ricsi

Wondering if I am the only one having trouble getting Chirp to work with my new laptop. It is an i7 running win 7 pro and using USB-3 rather than USB-2. Device mgr tells me the correct driver is there and its ready to go. When I try to read from the radio, it always tells me there is an error and cant read/find the files. When I fire up the older Vista machine the programming works fine using the same cable and radio. So in short I am starting to think there is a compatibility issue when using USB-3. Anyone else with this issue??? *Jim S*

Hi list, Using Chirp Daily 20150513: Just finished programming a batch of Baofeng UV5R N5R2401, N5R2405 and N5R2407. All of these units working fine. Also using Chirp Daily 20150513: download UV5R radio image from HN5RV01 deleted existing frequencies imported same .csv freq list used on above batch no errors at all reported all seemed OK with import and upload HN5RV01 Unit transmits ok; transmitted audio ok, RX indicator blue background light works ok when there is carrier received or when hitting the monitor switch, just no receive audio. Tried set of headphones in rec jack -- still no audio. No "Channel Mode" voice with power-on-self-test, either. Tried the same with Daily 20150530, no errors, no problems indicated; no change - no rx audio. did keyboard (menu/40) reset, then did reload with Daily 20150530, no errors, no problems indicated; no change - still no rx audio. Attached image is from this Daily 20150530 . Any possible settings that could cause this, or DOA audio output? tnx es 73 de Bill WB2SXY --

[chirp_users] Unable to communicate with Luiton LT-898UV

Just purchased the Lexien / Luiton LT-898UV which I have told is also known as a Jetstream 270. I have attempted to program using Chirp and the factory software and it comes back with a response of. "Failed to Download from Radio- Radio Refused Program mode" I have uninstalled the Prolific drivers installed the older and newer versions and tried both. I have tried the latest build of Chirp, have tried the factory software, have tried as a Lexien, and as a Jetstream and nothing. I know the software works since I have programmed Baeofeng radios in the past. Does anyone have any ideas ?

Hi all, I am confused about a couple of things when programming this radio via CHIRP. 1) Is there a way to globally set it so that the channel ALPHA name that I create will display on each channel? Right now, the only way I’ve found to do that is from the radio itself and I have to do each channel one at a time to get them all to display the text instead of the frequency. 2) Are there any plans to make it so we can change the function of the A, B, C, and D keys on the microphone keypad? Is that even possible? Thanks, Greg

Hi all. This has been my experience with a UV5R. Maybe a little help????? When I plug in my cable and turn on the radio (UV5R), _it comes on in transmit mode_, and stays key-down. As soon as I _send the updated data_ to the radio, it will fail, but the _radio will come out of transmit mode . . . USUALLY_ . . . BUT sometimes I have to send the data 2 or 3 times before it comes out of transmit mode. Then, _after it's come out of transmit mode_, it will accept the data OK. So, I try to tune to a frequency that most likely will not be in use when I turn the radio on, that way, when it starts up in transmit mode it won't interfere with someone else's QSO. Also, and I'm not sure what chipset is in my cheap cable, I had to just roll the driver back to the previous driver BEFORE it would work. The next update made it fail again, so I rolled it back again and stopped it from updating the driver again and it has worked OK ever since.
