i downloaded CHIRP daily-20151005 and noticed that there's no BF-A58 in the list of radios. i was able to download the data using the BF-F8HP radio for my BF-A58. if i uploaded the data using the BF-F8HP radio, will i brick my BF-A58 and ruin it for good? fyi i just got it today and haven't used it yet. -- Signature 5 Visit my website by clicking on the link below. Hello! I am new to this list and want to say hello to all users! I am happy to have Chirp. It has already saved many hours! Thank you all, who made this possible!! I already use Chirp for my FT-857, IC-7200 and my Boafeng 5R. Works great! Now I got an IC-2730. Make chirpw's interface a bit nicer looking by hiding one of them (arbitrarily chose to hide the first as that is convenient code-wise). [Cody P Schafer <dev(a)codyps.com>] drivers/ft60: add support for "off" duplex mode (#2891) By using a tx frequency of '0', the radio (or at least my ft60) refuses to transmit (gives "ERROR" on the screen) when the PTT key is pressed.

[chirp_users] CHIRP with Linux Mint / Linux Zorin

I am new to Linux (Linux Mint 17.2 and Zorin 9.0). I have installed CHIRP on both computers. But I am unable to download from my Baofeng UV-3R or Baofeng UV-5R. In each case it appears it does not find, or allow me access to, the Com Port ttyS0, or any port for that matter. Probably something simple I do not know about being new to Linux. Can anyone please give me some advice? Thanks Richard AG5M

Jim, Dave and others who responded. I did what you said, but when I go to add dialout it asks for a Group name to be inserted. What exactly is a "Group name"? It's asking for some combination of lower case letters and numbers. Not sure what to put in there for a Group name. I also tried using terminal without success. I typed in sudo usermod -a -G dialout USERNAME. Are there spaces between usermod and -a-G username? I tried with and without spaces, then ran id USERNAME but still could not find dia on the list. Something basic here I'm still not in tune with. More advice please???
