As for the 897, by the time I got things hooked up correctly, and used the correct sequence, just the reverse of the download, I got the file into the rig. Darn good program, CHIRP! Didn't see the 706 included in the list of supported radios. And don't see mention of being able to program memories. I have given up, and have gotten a refund already from eShow.b2c -- they hadn't shipped yet. Nice people, and I appreciate their integrity. No more posts necessary, especially since the most recent aren't CHIRP-related. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and suggestions. Can't get Chirp to work, can anyone help? The problem is that when I connect the radio to the sync cable the radio goes into transmit mode and nothing can be done. It looks like the pgm works but not the communication with radio, can you help? Also, I am using a MAC. Mats +1 214 228 2828

This avoids adding those elements to the tree to avoid confusion. (need a bug here) [Dan Smith <dsmith(a)danplanet.com>] [bf888] Standardize cloning routines and change name This patch makes the BF888/H777 driver pass the functional tests. Most of the change is around making the clone routines return conventional error messages and the proper exceptions for errors. Also, to run the functional tests, we have to have a predictable VENDOR and MODEL for the driver. The chinese name is cool (and correct) but it's going to get in the way of testing on some systems. For now, call this driver the Baofeng BF-888. Later, if we can figure out how to differentiate files for them, we can have a subclass for the H777. [chirp_users] Confusion about uploading .img file to radio

I have successfully downloaded, modified and uploaded memory settings. I thought that I could save such a file, and then use it for a subsequent upload if that became necessary. What I did: I used what I had saved from a previous download, modified it, and then attempted to upload it. I got an error: Failed to communicate with radio: Radio did not ack block 0 Can I only upload the same file that I downloaded? If that's the case, why would one save a file? Thanks, Peter KO6R
