[chirp_devel] Kenwood TH-D72
Hi,
Does anyone have a North American Kenwood TH-D72 that they could do a factory reset on and send me the pristine image.
There is an image ( provied by KD7LXL ) in the images directory but it is a partially modified version.
Thanks Angus

Are you working on the TH-D72 clone mode driver? I'd prefer to deprecate and remove that driver--it's caused so many issues. The live mode driver is preferable because it takes advantage of the radio's built-in error checking and will reject bad programming data.

I have done some work on it. To map out the memory I have been making a change on the radio and the doing a diff of the images.
Is there a way to do something similar in live mode ?

There is no need to do this on live mode. Live mode uses a protocol to instruct the radio what to save in a given channel. I believe the entirety of the protocol is already documented, so there's no need to reverse engineer it by looking at diffs.
The protocol document is available here: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Kenwood_TH-D72/files/TH-D72%20Commands/

I can't see the protocol document yet but is there a method of downloading the APRS messages ?

I've asked for access to the group so I can view the document.

No, I don't see any command for that.
There are commands for reading and writing channels, menu settings, VFO, and real-time control (change channel, begin transmit, change TNC mode, etc.)
