I hear this story often.

It would be helpful for CHIRP to display a message at launch indicating that the user should connect & download from the radio to proceed. Such a message could help reduce tech support requests, especially from first time users.

Sounds like it's working great. Now click on File > New, File > Open, or Radio > Download from Radio to get started.
