To start, know that the data file between the radio and the programming software is really just a memory dump, so I've found while I've been working ad adding support for the ID-51A Plus and ID-5100 that I don't even need to upload/download from the radio often for testing (which makes it much faster).
Excellent, thank you for your response, and I'm glad to see you've worked on those models, and I would expect this generation of hardware would share some of the same features.
I'm in the middle of moving, but I can post a few scripts I use to convert the *.ICF format from the ICOM software to the CHIRP file format.
This would be super helpful, and I would appreciate the scripts.
I'm actually thinking about getting an IC-7100, so this could be helpful to me too! How do you like it thus far?
I have used it only three times, so far, and the second time I spent entering repeaters by hand, which prompted me to investigate the development status of support for the unit. CHIRP worked great for me with the UV-5R on OSX, and I'd like to earn some commit-credits. If I get the hang of it, I'd like to see what I can do my other rig here, a TS-480.
So far, the rig sounds good on my favorite two analog repeaters, but I haven't checked out D-star or any of the features. It is a super-welcome upgrade from a UV-5R, at least for repeaters. I haven't had time to really check it out yet.
