This bug was mentioned last week in http://intrepid.danplanet.com/pipermail/chirp_users/2011-April/000744.html. I noticed that it had not been fixed as of last night's daily build, so here's a patch.
The problem is that chirp was only looking for /dev/cu.usbser*. The OS X FTDI driver puts devices at /dev/cu.usbserial*, but other drivers use different names, such as /dev/cu.pl2303*, /dev/cu.SLAB_USBtoUART, etc.
I have not fixed the other bug mentioned in that archive message (chirp not detecting returned ID properly when returned by TH-D72 in OS X).
