I added deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ xenial main restricted deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ xenial-updates main restricted to a file in sources.list.d. apt-get update and apt-get install did the rest.

You can track down the needed packages manually from https://packages.ubuntu.com https://packages.ubuntu.com/ just be sure to choose xenial as your release version or you probably won't see the results. Alternatively you can follow a fairly good set of instructions at https://dw1zws.com/how-to-install-chirp-on-ubuntu-20-04/ https://dw1zws.com/how-to-install-chirp-on-ubuntu-20-04/ but you'll need to trust a zip file download from someones personal google drive IIRC.

The last few years have been a little… distracting but I’m anxious to get back to chirp. I did some work on the Icom IC-7000 driver in the past. So:
How do I install python-libxslt1, python-gtk2, python-serial, and python-suds on Ubuntu Focal? Should I be looking at the Python 3 branch instead?
