For Dan and Pavel,
Ok, I'll apply the patch - most likely I'l get that done and tested by tomorrow.
For Dan,
I'm doing my development in a docker container, running Ubuntu 14.04. I'll test in Ubuntu 14.04 and 15.10, as well as on OSX El Captain.

Hi David, that's great news.
Please apply the patch sent by Jim yesterday (it's pending approval), it has a few bug fixes and a new more stable communication strategy.
If you need a fresh copy of this new improved version to play just ask for it.
Can you send the image to my email? I'm now without internet.

Update on the driver for the Jetstream JT2705M . It looks like Jim's observation is correct - the JT2705 looks like a variant of the 8900.
I successfully did an image download from the radio by adding a class to the existing Btech file and updating the magic and fileid. I was able to get an image, and also it displayed the channels correctly (need to do more testing to make sure this assertion is correct.).
I posted the image on the ticket: http://chirp.danplanet.com/issues/3481
I'll do some more work to test this out, and I'll post a patch for the btech.py file when I'm ready (most likely later this week). Since this model is under active development, let me know if there are any issues or updates that I should be aware of.
thanks
Dave
