States are big, so I added a county filter for the Repeaterbook.com importer. I wrote this for personal use, and haven't tested it extensively. Feel free to try it if you want, and email me if you encounter any problems. This patch only changes the query that's sent to repeaterbook. If you encounter errors during the actual import, that's probably a bug in the repeaterbook output. I've already found a few of those, and had the repeaterbook admin fix them. At this point the repeaterbook data for Colorado is clean, but I can't say any other states are 100% working! If Chirp can't parse one of the lines, it'll ignore it and successfully import all of the other entries. Tom KD7LXL

There is an unknown flag preceding the tone that give strange results in tone frequency (menu 83) when set to 1, this happens on all clean memory (filled by 0xFF) which are populated by chirp. This patch simply force the bit to 0.

Hi everyone, I have found the location of the start of the memories (0x17c5) and the size of each record (0x12 bytes). I am picking apart the bits for tones, power level, etc. There is a bug in the VX7 code that constructs the memory name string. Around line 161 for i in _mem.name: if i == "\xFF": break mem.name += CHARSET[i] mem.name = mem.name.rstrip() In the loop, i is a byte. "\xFF" is a character. Looking for a byte value this way doesn't work. It is correct in other code (the VX3 code, for example): if i == 0xFF: The VX7 code will appear to work, since a series of 0xFF bytes are mapped to a series of 0x00 bytes by the character lookup. These bytes are then removed by the rstrip() function. In the VX2 code I still haven't looked for (or found) the checksum. I commented out the check, so all I have right now is the following: Read data from VX2r My home-made USB->VX2r interface is working with a transistor buffer on the FTDI Tx line. Save .img file without verifying checksum This is useful as I can view it with a hex editor Display some channels I can parse the frequency and name, and I think repeater offset is correct too. Some other fields are parsed, but I haven't verified their correctness. So, progress is slow, but it's taking shape. I also edited line 518 in mainapp.py as originally the dialog box title was "Discard changes?" but the dialog box contents said "Save changes?". I experienced cognitive dissonance every time it appeared, so I fixed it. Please fix it in the main code (it's not worth a patch...) 73, Andrew ZL3AME

This patch set includes: - An update to the VX5's band limits - The ability to open and save files from EVE and VX5 Commander - A fix for bug #87 (http://chirp.danplanet.com/issues/87) that casued the VX5 to lock up when recalling some memories created by Chirp, because Chirp did not set the unknown bits of the memory to safe defaults. Now unknown values are set to the same defaults as memories created on the VX5 (coincidentally, all 0x00). Tom KD7LXL

Hi all, Thank you for your indulgence. I added a single transistor buffer to the FTDI Tx line, and I used the FTDI utility to invert the sense of the Tx line. Unfortunately it didn't work. This is basically Q1 R10 and R11 from Alexander Meier's circuit. In desperation I ordered a USB interface from 409shop. I am sure it will arrive in a few days. And in fact, ordering this interface has taught me something after all. :) In the meantime, today, I added a second layer of transistor buffer to the first, and turned the Tx inversion off again. This would be Q3 and R13. I also removed the diode between Tx and Rx. I am pleased to say that it works! I can now read the VX2r memories using VX2 Commander under Wine in Linux. I have a CSV file of my radio's contents. Chirp also does the Right Thing, and gives me a nice progress bar before it barfs with a checksum error. I am wondering if I go back to the single-transistor buffer but with no base resistor and a 47k pullup instead of 10k would it work? I may try that, especially since I can't box up what I have as it's a spaghetti mess now, and it would be nice to just have to add one transistor and one resistor. I have not added any buffering to the FTDI chip input. In my intermediate testing I have been trying various combinations with and without the diode, to see if it could be eliminated. My next iteration would be to drop the supply voltage to 3V3 as I'm still worried about that. I will use the 5V interface for my FT817. Incidentally, the 3V3 version worked with the 3V3 serial port on a D-Link ADSL modem which I plan to repurpose as an APRS gateway, but it has separate Tx and Rx lines, not a shared one like the VX2r. The first patch implements a live driver for the Kenwood TH-D72. I found the existing TH-D72 clone driver was erroring during uploads and leaving garbage in the new memory channels. The live driver allows the TH-D72 to reject bad memory data, so corruption is significantly less likely. The live driver currently does not support cross-tones, but I plan to implement this within the next few weeks. The next two patches are a charset and valid_skips fix for the TM-D710 driver, which also affect the TM-V71 and TH-D72. Tom KD7LXL
