[RFC] Abstract Bank and BankModel to MemoryMapping and MappingModel
This is mostly just a search-and-replace for the above names, but makes
way for supporting things like scan lists that behave exactly the same
way.

Attached is my driver for the Wouxun KG-UV6D.
At present this can Download & Upload all 999 memories to the radio and
will display some of the settings (but not upload new values to the radio).

on the site page

you can see that mediaglobe (one of the biggest radio e-seller in italy)
says "do not use CHIRP". (translate the sentence in red with google)
The same advice is also on the page of other baofeng models.
I was going to write them to tell that's not true but before this please:
- Jim can you confirm they are wrong? please point me to the issue # if any
- Dan do you mind me to write as "a chirp developer"?

Hi all,
I am working on two issues, #1225 (UV-8) and #1707 (UV-6), that after doing
research seems to indicate both issues are caused by the same thing.
The problem is that after the "magic" is sent to the radio to initiate
cloaning, the radio returns a 12 byte ident when every other Baofeng radio
that I know of returns an 8 byte ident. I have temporarily edited the
driver to accept 12 bytes and CHIRP downloads from the radio. But since the
ident is 4 bytes longer, all of the structures are off by 4 bytes.
After saving the downloaded data to a .img file, I can use a hex editor to
remove 4 bytes from the begining of .img file, save it to another name and
load it back into CHIRP and it is fine.
So I am looking for some help to figure out how to have CHIRP to be
tolerant of the 8 byte and 12 byte idents and also 4byte offset data
structures.
Got any ideas?

Mi permetto di farvi notare che tale informazione è quanto meno
imprecisa se non addirittura fuorviante:
- innanzitutto il problema si verifica solo trasferendo sulle nuove
radio l'immagine ottenuta da radio di versioni precedenti e non
genericamente utilizzando il sw
- Chirp è stato aggiornato già da quasi un mese e mezzo per impedire che
il problema possa verificarsi nuovamente, basta usare una qualunque
versione rilasciata dopo il 19 agosto per non incorrere in questo rischio
- ma soprattutto il danno è tutt'altro che irreparabile dato che è
sufficiente ricaricare sulla radio la sua stessa immagine originale,
sempre usando Chirp, come spiegato passo passo qui

#477 changed CSV detection so that Chirp CSVs must start with "Location,".
Python's CSV reader is capable of parsing many other variations, like quoted
values and semicolon separators. Should we support these?
Also, I could not find any reason to return an error for a column number
mismatch (no commas at end of line). Our CSV algorithm doesn't care.
I'll break this into multiple patches after comments.

Hi
I'm now using a different code editor which removes some white spaces automagically and marks coding style violations.
Fixing #1901 was the ocasion for some code cleanup, I made separate patch if more than just a white space have been made.

In an image from a user we found some unused memories marked as non empty that
have not been initialized with valid data (they are filled by binary 1s).
We don't know how to create such a memory but checking that freq field contains
valid data is always safe.
